Noise suppressor

    I was wondering if the factor noise suppressor is needed if you run a new mallory distributor and no longer have points and a condensor? I just installed a new alternator that has the voltage regulator built into it and removed the old original voltage regulator along with the noise suppressor. So far I can't tell if I am getting noise or not. Maybe it is just the type of music I listen to?

    I believe the noise is caused by solid core plug wires, never heard of getting it from the dizzy.

    Alternators can cause a whining noise, ignition noise is a popping sound. Set your radio to blank spots on the AM and FM bands, rev the engine and see if you hear any RF noise. If you do, disconnect the antenna to determine if the noise is coming in the power wire or the antenna.

    I have a new style, one wire, internal fan/regulator alt. and have not been troubled w/ any whine. It's been on the car abt 2yrs.
