on my '73 factory A/C car there is a rubber plug coming through the firewall.
it has vac. hoses and a wire coming through the plug. I can't seem to find where the wire is getting its switched on power and what fuse controls it?
    ...can anyone tell me...:Handshake

Doesn't that wire connect to the AC compresssor under the hood, and to the thermo switch in the heater box, then from that to the dash switch?

I was thinking AC clutch also. Believe that wire came thru the firewall with the vacuum lines for the heater/ac controls. It would be hot with the ignition switch IF THE CONTROL WAS ON AC AND THE BLOWER WAS ON.

Having gutted the factory AC out of a donor car and put it into mine, I can confirm that. :yup: It goes from the AC clutch to the anti-icing switch on the AC box, then to the dash controls. Its fuse is the same one as the heater. It gets power when the blower is on and the switch is in the AC position.

this started with no power to my E.fuel pump...
fuse was good as well as all connections to the fuse.
    Jeff pulled/checked all the fuses...:thumbs2:
a little more checking and he found we also had no power to the fuses to the...wipers, turn sigs, trans. cooler fan, ing...
Earl suggested the ing. switch may be the problem...:Handshake
before replacing it I thought I would check the plug connections first...the problem was a loose plug on the turn sig. switch... don't know what that would have to do with the dead bank of fuses...we could wiggle the plug and the fuel pump, etc. etc. would come on/off.
tightened up the connector...everything works great...:thumbs2:
thanks again to Earl and Jeff...:Handshake
