Need help with brackets. I have the serpentine crank pulley and serpentine crown vic water pump pulley installed. They line up with the correct FRPP crank pulley spacer. The water pump is a standard rotation pump. Problem! The alternator serpentine pulley does not line up. My current alternator and bracket are from an 84 Lincoln Mark VII. So, when people switched did they use the stock maverick V8 alternator brackets and simply change to the serpentine pulley on the maverick alternator? Or, did some use the alternator brackets from the crown vic? I'm not sure where the alternator is located on the crown vic so using those brackets may be out of the question if it is located on the driver side of the engine. Thoughts?
Well you didn't say what other parts of the setup you're using, so pics would help. I'm not using a serpentine style belt, but I did fab my own alternator bracket to cobble mine together. This simple triangular bracket, much like the aftermarket aluminum brackets can be spaced to align the pulleys to suit your needs
Good point on the pics but wife has camera and wont be back until Weds! The crank pulley is from the 84 Mark as well but it lines up with the crown vic water pump pulley when using the FRPP spacer. So, that souldn't be a problem. The alternator is actually too far out. I was thinking the crown vic pulley is in the "crown vic position" so the bracket for the alternator from the crown vic should work. This assumes the crown vic water pump and alternator "use" the same belt "circuit".
Well it's rarely ever a good idea to mix FEAD parts on a Ford, so you're kind of on your own here. The Vic setup paired the alternator and P/S pump together on the driver's side, I used this setup on my V8 Ranger. I'm assuming the Mark setup had the alternator on the passenger side ?
I have the Crown Vic Pulleys on mine with the original 40 year old alternator brackets slightly modified to fit the 3G alternator. I used spacers to move the alternator brackets outward.
