I was told that I could remove one of my transmission cooler lines and place 2 hoses from the line and radiator into a container, let the engine idle in park until the fluid stopped flowing and then remove the pan with no mess. I kind of think this may hurt the transmission! Have any of you ever heard of this procedure and would you do it? Thanks Guys!
I took mine up to work, and used the exhcanger, it goes through the dipstick tube and does a bit better job at fluid swap..... if that's the goal, has a nozzle that cleans the pan from inside, and also replaced the fluid in the torque converter a ton less mess,b ut if your filter needs cleaned badly, i don't think you'd have that option
I have done this to remove an overfill... ...install a drain plug while you have the pan off...:Handshake
Great idea!!! I talked to this guy again ( he works at a transmission shop ), and he said to idle the engine until the fluid just starts to get air bubbles and then shut off the engine. He also told me it will drain some fluid from the converter also. He also said this procedure is not for newer computer controlled transmissions! Only our old ones! I honestly believe I'm going to use a sucker pump through the fill tube. Mine has a converter drain so I can drain it fairly mess free! I'm really leery about running the fluid out under pressure. If the sucker pump works well, I won't bother to put a drain in the pan. I'll let you all know how this works! Here's a link to the pump I'm going to get. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200008074_200008074
