A lot of guys use a Mustang tank, it also allows for an easier route for dual exhaust pipes, as for putting it back in without lining it, not recommended, it was lined in the first place for a reason, more than likely to contain rust.
Just use the search function and all info. you need will be there.
I bought a 75' tank new and it came with longer straps.

The 75-77 Granada/76-77 Maverick tank will fit...just use longer strap bolts. You will need to use the later vapor valve because the hole in top of the tank is larger than the early tanks. You can buy the vapor valve through a Ford parts department or online

If you're doing an EFI conversion AND considering replacing the tank, I would consider doing the Mustang tank conversion with new parts and adding a sump in the new tank. Fuel slosh IS a problem using stock components with EFI and less than 1/2 full. Just a suggestion.:scratchchin:

How exactly does it cause a problem? Adds another step to my EFI install project...

As the gas moves away from the pump it sucks air and you have instant stall. You can get away with it on a carbed engine because the carb is a mini reservoir. another option is to frame mount the pump and have a quart sized reservoir ahead of it. Usually is recommended to have a small low pressure pump close to the tank feeding the high pressure pump.
