I saw a couple pics of mavs with what appears to be 2 sets of tail lights on each side, minus back up light of course. Does anyone have a good pic and or technical advice? I have an extra set of lights and would like to try it.

Well how bout that! Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you. I think if I cut off the back up lights from my spare set, I can make these.

I have a set of the Impala tail lights I would sell if anyone is interested. PM me for details. They're getting ready to go to eBay shortly if nobody speaks up.

dscf0089_original.jpg dscf0090_original.jpg dscf0088_original.jpg Easy Peazy, just follow the directions in the Tech write up to turn the inner reflectors into working tail lites or leave them alone and they are direct fit.
Expect to pay anywhere from 150-200 for a good set of these Bobcat Tail lites.

I have owned my Maverick since the summer of 88 and I have learned so much in the few days of joining this site. Everyone here is so supportive and friendly. On the subject of tail lights, I have learned about the Impala and Caprice lights. Altho I think Cougar lights are awsome, they are also very distinctive. The Bobcat lights are closer to Maverick lights but are proving tough to find. So I need to choose between the Impala or the Caprice. I think I like the Impala better. Anyone have any thoughts on this mod?

The 67 Impala and Caprice tail light housings are identical to one another - only the lenses are different with the Impala having the clear reverse light in the center lense. I just finished installing a set in my tail panel. Mine are an Impala set that I picked up from a junkyard in New Mexico via Ebay. The lenses are reproduction Caprice and are not very expensive. My reverse lights will be in my valence and I have a set of sequencers for the triple red lense sections of the Caprice lenses. So pick up the best set of frames that you can find and decide later on weather they will be Impala or Caprice. :thumbs2:

It looked like the impala and caprice frames were the same, thanks for confirming that. I'm actually just interested in the bulb housing because I have found new bezels and lenses on ebay. Am going to install them original for now and upgrade during the year. Now how about a sequencer? Are the expensive?

I took advise from the board here and bought a set of sequencers from Web Electric Products.com and they were only 70.95 to my door here in PA. :thumbs2:

One more thing - visually, I see no outward difference between the 2 Impala tail lights but there is a left and a right to these lights. There is differences in the mounting bolt pattern but it won't matter since you need to drill new holes anyway. A set of new lenses also comes as a L & R to match the different bolt patterns. I have no idea why Chevy did this :hmmm:
