Well its in there now. After some cussing and a few knuckle busters the motor is in and I got to take it for a test drive. Feels good, but I'm not liking the 3 speed anymore. I want an automatic. Looking for ideas on which tranny, and were and what I can find it in. I was thinking a c4 with a stall and shift kit in it. I also dont know what all I have to do to convert it over. If you can give me some ideas so that I can avoid any unwanted bs.
The c4 was used from 64 to 81 . There's lots of them around. Some are case filled and some are pan filled. I'd look for one that is case filled. Also use one that is later than 70. That's about the time they changed from the 24 spline to 26 spline input shaft. Makes a difference on which Torque Convertor to buy also. If you look up c4 ford transmission on Wikipedia they also give a list of many of the cars and years they were used in.
Where are you in AZ? Ive got a C4 and a 28oz flexplate that Im not going to use. The C4 needs to be gone through so Id give it to you for free. Im switching to an AOD. Its not that hard to convert to an Automatic. Just need the crossmember, Spacer, kick down,flexplate and a shifter. I also have a floor shifter you can have.

I haven't been to New River since last night. We went to dinner over at the Royal Cafe with some friends.
Sounds good to me. That will give me a chance to change out a lifter that wont pump up. Checked it out a little last night and found the tick. Damn, I hope that's all it is.
