Hi everyone, I've got a 75 Maverick that I pulled down from the barn this last weekend. The starter had a dead spot and it wouldn't turn over. SWMBO has kept me working on the house the last couple of years so I have not had the time to work on the car. It's been in storage since 1992! Here's what it looks like now: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/JRIowa/Cars/DSC01375.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/JRIowa/Cars/DSC01378.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/JRIowa/Cars/DSC01377.jpg I've got the oil& filter changed, new starter and battery installed and am changing the fluid & filter on the C4. It needs a few other things before it hits the road this summer. Long term: The dash is cracked. Stock gas cap is gone. And the biggest; this car has drum brakes JR
From Alaska Nice Barn find. Looks like a great car. Man if I had that I would think twice about doing anything to it except clean it up. How are the floor pans?
Looks great! Don't worry too much about the drum brakes, my '74 daily driver has drums all 'round and they work great. As long as they're done right then they are fine. But yes, of course disc brakes are preferable. CommieHook
Not really a "barn find". I bougth the car in 1979 for my first wife. After she passed in 1980, the car didn't get driven much, but I didn't want to sell it. I did a lot of traveling for work until about 7 years ago so the car just sat. No rust, no body work, 70K miles. The problem with the drum brakes is that our daily driver has power disk. If you're not used to the drum brakes, you get a big surprise when you have to stop. JR
Come to Somerset Ky in July, and someone will tell you and show you how to fix those brakes. Check the board for the Gathering thread http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=84525.
