Might want to rethink that spring cuting.

The only flat parts on a spring is on each end also look at the angle of the spring coil now think if you cut that theres something thats not going to be right after you do, and yep you can get v8 springs that will lower it down look up maverick connection on google and ask chuk.

Only the top of the coil springs in our cars are flat. The bottom is what you want to cut...

I bought 550lb Mustang springs from National Parts Depot that drop the car an inch for about $65.

Not much point in cutting if that will work. Nice having the extra spring rate too.

Hey Max, do you know what the weight of the front of your car is? You can go to almost any truck stop, most of them have scales. They can tell you total weight and break it down by axle. Cat scales are guaranteed to be within one pound.

Max, Are all early Mustang springs are the same? It looks like it might have lowered the car more than an inch.

I finally got around to cutting them today. I cut one coil and it dropped it about 2 inches.

That's how mine turned out. I only wanted to drop it 1 inch but I think it dropped more like 2. I'm not really happy with the result. I think I'm gonna buy the springs from NPD as suggested...

Hey T.L. or rx7351w, measure you front fender in the center of the arch & tell how many inches the car sit from the ground. Also let me know what tire size too. I'm trying to see if a 225/50/17 will clear the front. The tire is 25.9 inches tall. If it do clear the fender, will it be to close that when I turn in the driveway that tire might come up & hit the fender. I might be able to use a mustang 550lbs spring or a little more so the wheel do travel up & down as much.

While the 550lb springs look a whole bunch shorter on the bench, they don't compress as much as the factory springs, so seeing them unsprung is a little misleading. I didn't measure, but I would say an inch lower is about what I got. The car handles a lot better wityh a stiffer spring, and at the 550lb rate, rides decent too. The 620s on my Mustang are pleasantly harsh..LOL!!

Thanks Max, I wish I would have talked to you earlier...If the new springs don't work I will be ordering the mustang springs. Do you think a 225/50/17 will fit?

The measurement you asked for is: 23-3/4"
It's going to depend on the backspace of your wheels as to whether or not those tires will work.
I have 225/60-15s (25-1/2" tall) on 15x7" wheels with 3-3/4 backspace and they rub when I turn sharp, like U-turns or pulling into a parking space.

I think I'm going to get some wheels with a 4-inch backspace instead. The 14x7 Magnums I have (4-1/4" backspace) sit inward a little too much for my liking...
