dose anyone have any tips on how to replace the weatherstrip in the front windshield? I read in one thread that you should use that black rope stuff from 3M when putting in the seal and window. how would I go about getting the front window out and back in? I helped my dad pull the windshield out of my mothers 66 stang and it came out with no issues but I dont quite remember how we got it out.

That is weird, it doesn't show the gasket at all, but the other smaller pictures do...

I was wondering about that. Also, the instructions for removing the windshield say to just push it out. :naughty: Good way to break the glass. Its much safer to cut the gasket all the way around on the outside, remove the cut off piece, and then just lift the glass out.

Front windshield area also had tape also around 3/4's of the opening. The only nasty stuff was on the bottom and top corners…the A pillows had very little soft butle on the pinch weld.

Probably correct for a car that has never had a replacement glass put it. Once it's been replaced, no telling what was used. Mine had the sticky butyl all the way around it.

had tape on my 73 Mav, no tape on the 72 Comet, the 72 Mav I drive now looks like someone spilled the butyl container all down the sides and across the top. It has a vinyl top though, don't know if that makes any difference, but I'm dreading cleaning all of that crap off.:sarcasticclap:
