71 mav 3.3L tranny problems

    71 maverick,69 429 thunder jet T-Bird.
    So my mav just started having problems with the transmission..
    When I turn it on put it in drive then when I try to reverse it seems like it goes in neutral.. Or when I'm driving on the street and come to a stop sign it seems like it goes into neutral(5-10min from starting the car)..once the car is warmed up completely the problem goes away..
    What can it be.?

    My car doesn't have a problem going forward as soon ad it starts..
    Also when I give it some gas it seems to jump back into gear

    Check the fluid level, sounds like its low.
