:hmmm:.....Is there a differece in thread size between 250 I6 power steering pumps and 302 power steering pumps? the pressure hose I had ordered (and took back) wouldnt screw onto the back of the new "302" pump I ordered because the fitting on the end of the hose was too small. do any of you have a full part number for the pump side preasure hose? I went and compared my old pump and the new one and the threaded nipples on the backs of them are entirely different from one another for some reason :16suspect

this one has got me stumped. all this is for my 74

oh also does the pressure hose come in two sections pump side and the control valve side? I read that there are a total of 5 hoses for the power steering system.

I can't help on the part number of the hose, but mine was for a 250 and it is all one piece. I also didn't know about a different fitting size on the pumps. I see from your thread that you got a new pump. Maybe there is another fitting that you could get for it. I went through this crap with a master cylinder! It took me three tries to get the right one, which I don't understand, as the drum brakes only had one master cylinder!
I looked this up from Napa Auto Parts.
The 302 and 250 are the same
    NPS 71922 w/air - from pump
    NPS 71925 - from pump

I tried going to the parts store and asked the guy if they had a brass adapter I could use to put the hose on but all he did was bug me about why I ordered a 302 pump and didnt reuse the I6 pump(explaining it to him didnt help) I got agrivated and left. I think I got the hoses mixed up :hmmm:. The one I still have for the six is all in one piece and thats what stumps me, I would think that the one for a 302 would be all in one piece too.

Check the link in my first post. According to the part #s, all the stuff is the same 6 or V8. I think the pump is too. I'll look that up and see. :)

The pumps show as different, but it just looks like where the dipstick tube is. I couldn't see the fitting well enough, but to my old eyes they looked the same.
Do you still have your old hose? If so is tube where the fitting goes the same size? If so have the shop cut the tube and put your fitting nut on it and reflare the tube.
You know, I just don't understand why these companies can't make the exact same thing that came on the car! :hmmm:

My notes show 4 different part numbers on the pump for each 200, 250 and 2 pumps for the 302 (before and after 12/19/73)

The power steering pump is different for a 302 and there is 4 hoses that are used.

No, you have the pump end for both hoses and the control value end for both hoses.
