For anyone who has done the serpintine set up with mustang pulleys and deleted power steerin and ac and modded the tensioner to reverse the tension. Buy a tensioner pulley for an ls2 like the trailblazer ss and replace the mustang pulley. Stack two washers behind the stock washer. Solves the ribbed belt on smooth pulley problem. Will post a pic tomorrow.
Is this to fix it from eating the inside rib? I just cut the entire rib off and made it a 6-rib instead of 7-rib belt.
Most people run this set up with the stock smooth tensioner pulley against the ribbed side of the belt. Which is caused by the tensioner pulling the belt up instead of pushing it down. This puts a ribbed pulley on the ribbed side.
But I don't see it touching anything anywhere, but when it is spinning, apparently the belt wobbles a little and rubs one of the smooth pulleys on the lip, rubbing the edge off.
Brush a lil paint on that side of the belt while its running. Then pull the belt an you should be able to see where its rubbing most
You know after lookin at mine. Its a 6 rib belt not a 7. That may be your problem. Depending on your pulley set up.
here are the pictures. notice the position of my tensioner. its up rather than down. the smooth pulley is the stock 5.0 pulley. here is the thread with an example of what it looks like before the pulley swap http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=71861&highlight=reverse+tensioner
I didn't go out and count ribs, so either that could be my problem, or I just threw out the wrong number without looking... Either way, took scissors and cut an entire rib off. I have a spare in trunk same way.
