How are Maverick parts numbered differently from the other car models? Just a fast lesson on how to id a maverick piece would be great! or if its only the specific year that can be decoded for the part? Thanks!
I have an interchange manual to verify crossover parts with other models but the prefix in a FoMoCo part number decodes year and where it came from. Ex: D0AZ-2365A where D is the decade, 70's, 0 is the year, 70, AZ is for the Maverick/Falcon carline. The middle is the basic part # and the suffix is the revision level
D= Decade 70's 0= Years 1970 D= Maverick (D can be for more than one model, but usually not at the same time) Z= Ford Service Part. The second set of numbers, denotes what group of parts the part belongs to (trim, sheet metal) The third set, of letters or numbers can be color or revision.
This is a Great list! I have a Ford Master parts catalog and it took me quite a while to figure out how to use it. It is nothing like the Honda catalogs I use everyday. This chart would have been very useful. Almost all of the Maverick parts start with a D(Year)DZ ... unless they were first used in another model like a Mustang C9ZZ or D(Year)ZZ (example). I have a very long list of Maverick part numbers listed in a small notebook that I take to Carlisle every year when I go on the hunt for a specific part. Most all start with D0DZ/D1DZ/D2DZ or D5DZ. What I could not find at Carlisle I have found on the internet using the original Ford Part Numbers. I have found 90% plus of everything I was looking for having the part numbers in hand. Green Sales is great if you have the part numbers. Mark there is the best!
