when I bought my 75 maverick, it had an aftermarket steering wheel on it. it seemed to be a shallow dish wheel (i don't know if that is the right wording) when i turned the wheel i kept hitting the turn signal stalk and jamming my fingers. not fun. I got ticked at it and removed the aftermarket wheel and the mounting kit, replacing the wheel with an old ford wheel hanging on my wall. I believe it is off a 79 mustang. the mustang it came off of had the horn button on the turn signal stalk. I figured I would get a different steering wheel later and rectify the no horn situation caused by the wrong wheel. my question is this, is there any connection (mechanical connection) that cancels my turn signal, on the back of my steering wheel? when i turn on the turn signals they will not cancel. i looked on the back of the old mounting kit and it is geared to do something. as it is now, I have to shut off the signal by hand. any guesses? the old, shallow dish wheel, would cancel the signals just fine.
I just bent my t/s lever back just a bit to clear. Just have to be careful and not snap it off. Been awhile since I had my wheel off, but there's a pin or something that cancels the t/s switch.
I did like Bobby. I marked the stem while on the car, removed it and bent it using my vice... I know...you say using his ...vice.... well making tire smoke is not my only vice...
