Spent the day scrubbing and buffing. Car has 93,000 miles so has its fair share of road rash. Two biggest problems are the rear 1/4 has a small dent/hole from backing into a pickup truck. Also a six inch long dent in the driver side rocker panel. I am hoping that the body shop can match the paint. Engine needs a lot of detail work.

Very nice.:bananaman A clean '74 for sure. Seems to me some of the big bumper cars weren't as well taken care of as their small bumper buddies. That one seems well cared for. Way to go. Can a person ever really have too many Mavericks/Comets.?(y)

Dan, that car shined up nice. I've got the quarter extrensions you need. The color matching seat belts in the '76 are lousy. Some idiot cut the belts where the shoulder harness is totally inoperable.

BTW, for you guys (like Rick Porter) who thought I was thief on my deal for the '73 I bought, if I am thief then Dan needs to be put on death row. His crime was far better...er....worse than mine. :slap:

Hey that's cool, I didn't know it was factory. I have pinstripe on my 73 4dr but it's not factory. I like Mavericks with pinstripe it's a nice accent I think.

OK ... I've gone totally retro. Car just had a AM radio in it. I have had this AM/FM 8-track player laying around for almost 3 years .. I just installed it and it works great! I bought it on eBay with a couple boxes of tapes. There is a flea market by house that has hundreds of 8-tracks ... gotta go check it out next weekend!

Dan, thats a very nice car. Back in 1974 there were thousands of Mavericks just like that on the road and now its a specialty car! I think there liked more now then when they were new. I like the stereo you installed. I have a under dash FM stereo 8 track tape deck I used in my orginal Maverick. I haven,t installed it in the one I have now because I don,t want to cut holes for speakers. My car has just an AM radio whitch was still common at the time. I still have 150 8 track tapes I use them in the house every now and then.:D

I was waiting for someone to notice Barry Manilow! LOL Those black marks were already there .... This car cannot spin the tires. Just got my insurance quote from Hagerty ... $91 per year insured for $6000 ... I'll probably drive it a day or two to work ... 20 miles round trip.
