Hello from Oregon. As stated, I've been lurking awhile since every question I have has been asked and answered already. Let me tell you about my mav (76 4-door I6). Got it for peanuts several years ago from a coworker who couldn't keep the battery charged. (Clean the posts, maybe I dunno?) Anyway, scoring this car was like stealing an idiot's girlfriend. I had to have her, if only to get her away from him. But I digress. I've been driving it a bit and leaving it parked a bit off and on for the last several years, but finally I'm sick of my driver so I want to make the mav into my daily driver. So to that end, I've got several projects going: Driver's door hinge replacement (still can't get the door lined up right.) Cowl leak fix with por15 and fiberglass. Small holes in the floor from the cowl leak. Small holes in the trunk from general rustiness. Dash pad replacement. (Just have to get the heater controls out and it's free.) I got the speedo out, and it's a bit of a crumbly mess. I think there's enough there to keep it in one piece, but that plastic is just turning to dust. Down the road I want to turn the ashtray into some sort of ipod dock, but I have to think about how for awhile yet. I'm also thinking about headlight relays. Bucket seats. Cruise control. Double-barrel carb. Dual exhaust (yes, on an I6). Etc. Regards, Leroy

Welcome .... I drive mine daily... I'm in las vegas on vacation... driving home to los angeles tomorrow . 200 1barrel.. I got 21.8 mpg coming out here going 62-72 mph..
You guys really know how to throw out the welcome mat! I'm in Oregon and it's been rather cold - almost - but not quite too cold to lay on a metal maverick floorboard. I've got my heat gun running in it to take the chill off as I stare up under the dash and swear under my breath. Oh, since I've got the inside completely torn apart, is there anything else I should be doing while I'm in there? I'm already: replacing the dash pad rebuilding the heater box/replacing hoses fixing the cowl fixing the speedo pulling out the rubber/asbestos mat and putting in peel&seal Installing speakers I suppose this would be the best time to install an intermittent wiper switch? I'm in Oregon, so I think I should... Cheers!
