When a carburetor is being swapped, does the manifold need to be changed or does the adapter address this problem? I thought the adapter made it possible to use with the current manifold, but my dad thought It needs a different manifold. Should I just go with a new manifold anyways? Thanks again
If it is a 6 cyl you can't swap manifolds. If it is a v8 and you are referring to installing a 4 barrel carb using an adapter on the existing 2 barrel intake. In my opinion your wasting your money. Swap the manifold to get the maximum benefit.
Well I have the six so that cuts my options down a bit. So to swap manifolds, one would need to replace the cylinder heads and the manifold? I feel like I'm liking the adapter idea ha.
How many other mods are you planning to do to this engine? Unless you are planning on headers, a cam, and other mods....I don't think you will gain a lot with a two barrel carb.
The adapter will work on your existing 6 cylinder manifold but will restrict the flow of the progressive 2bbl unless you have the intake on the manifold machined. I noticed a slight improvement in mine without the machine work but still can't spin the wheels. It also tends to run a little rich so re-jetting the carb might be an option.
Is there a link available that discusses price of v8 swap or any recommendations for a certain type of v8
Check out this site. Loads of good info on ford strait six performance. http://www.fordsix.com/tech.php
