so i started around noon changing the spark plugs on the maverick. everything was going good untill my wife decided to help by taking the cables off the dist. long story short i bought the wrong plugs twice so and once i got the right ones cylinder 2 plug broke so had to go back for a 3rd time. well i did the basic 302 firing order did not work, after 4 hours under the hood neighbor came by and told me the roller blocks have a different firing order i tried it and cranked up beautifully. I guess i have a 347 roller motor now the guy that built the motor said it was a non roller. but oh well him taking 9months to build the motor i got something good out of it. i am glad i didnt buy the flat tappet cam i wanted

Could be just the cam shaft, I have a non roller motor that uses 351W firing order.

Pull the intake off, if it's a Ford roller block, you'll see the wishbones holding the roller lifters in place, some blocks will have "xxx" cast into the lifer valley. I've seen non-roller blocks converted to roller lifters.

Yes! you can put a 351 flat tappet camshaft in a 302 that makes it a 5.0 HO

alot of the bigger cams use the windser firing order.it doesnt have to be a roller motor.

And it doesn't have to be a 347.

i know i have a 347 i bought a eagle assembly stroker kit when we drop it off at the machine shop to get it decked and machined. i forgot all about the 351 cam working, i guess he used a 351 cam since my displacement is closer to it than a 302
