    Hey,

I got a msd box 5200 and a blaster 2 coil with msd super conductive wires. got a few questions...

Do I still need to use my ballast resistor with my 73' points distributor (250 engine)?

Will I see an improved mpg?

Do I ever have to set points again?

Do I need a tach adapter?

As far as I could tell from the schematic your maverick doesn't use a "ballast resister" It has a resistance wire that is connected to the positive side of your coil.

Your MSD 5 schematic shows to connect the "box" before the ballast (12v)
and connect your coil after the ballast.

There are 3-4 amps going across a stock set of open points. With a points distributor triggering the box, this is reduced to .2 amps on a set of open points, which greatly reduces wear.

So in theory your points should last much longer. I would still put lube on the points cam and pivot once in awhile.

You do not need a tach adapter, connect your tach as directed in the instructions. If you don't have them, you can PM me the brand/model of your tach and I will help.

    MPG:
*Keep your engine tuned up. Incorrect fuel ratio, bad spark plugs and incorrect spark timing can have a big effect on gas mileage.
*Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under inflated tires cause more resistance to travel.
*Use a good engine oil, preferably a synthetic or standard oil treated with a friction reducing oil additive. These have been known to improve fuel economy by as much as 12%.
    * (MY FAVORITE!) Keeping your highway speed at 55 mph can improve you gas mileage by as much as 25%, compared to 75 mph.
