Hello everybody. My son and I are trying to bring back a 71 maverick back from the dead. I hope you guys can help with locating parts. With what I've seen so far here is, I have the right place. Not any mavericks around here for parts. Car is stripped down to bare shell now and will be getting bead blasted soon. Was going to have it acid dipped but restorers around here say that's a bad deal. Were gonna go with a resto mod theme. 302 AOD 9". My son will be doing some bracket racing with it. It took me a lot of time deciding on a car to build with my son (something different) that nobody else has. It had to be a ford and I couldn't think of anything else but a maverick. We seen five mavericks at cordova dragway two weeks ago and he's very excited. He's 15 and can't wait for his to be done. I have my own shop where I rebuild transmissions. foreign, domestic, late model, antique, and racing. My father and I race at cordova in super et class. I run a camaro and my father runs a 500 horse 75 c10. I know those aren't fords but there still fun. Tim (my son) wants me to put my 460 DOVE engine in his maverick just so he can beat his grandpa. I told him she wouldn't be to street worthy if we did that. He'll just have to get him at the tree.

there will be 1 more come spring. Cordova is where I go. Love the place. I been goin there since I was a kid, when everything but the track was sand. I didnt make it last weekend, and had no idea there were that many Mavericks that go there, I have seen 1 that The brothers bring down from Chicago and that thing is a beast.

See you there then. I don't know where all the mavericks came from, I've never seen that many there at cordova at one time. It's great fun racing and making a lot of friends there. They where all there on sponsor day.

Welcome to the board. What ET's does grandpa run? Course with brackets the et's don't really matter, as much as the RT. :Welcome:

my favorite event there at the track is the fastest street car shootout. and the nostalia drags. cnt stand goin to the world series. Just too packed. ya wait hours to get in, then hours to leave. good show, but the wait just blows. I cant wait til my boy can run my car at the highschool shootout. I remember runin it when I was a pup. It was a blast. My very first time on the tree

Don, the fastest my dads truck ran was 11.99 in the 1/4. It should run faster with the upgrades we did with it. added a trans brake, changed the gear to 4:56 w/spool, and installed a 2 step msd. Dads rt is getting better but he is 65. He shattered the bellhousing on his second time run and launched in 2nd gear on his first run.
