looks pretty good. i installed a fast ez efi on a car and its really moody. they guy is very irritated with with. i like that the msd has timing control also. the fast wiring harness was very bulky. all the pig tails went to the throttle body but were about a foot long and looked like a octopus hugging the throttle body.
Looks good all my race motors have MSD products and they are well known for making quality stuff would likely try this over the others they compared there's to side by side........I LIKE IT!!!
THats a nice unit. A future upgrade for sure when money permits. I like the clean and simple wiring and that you dont need a laptop. those are thing I didnt like about the other kits and why Ive never done it before. The built in wide band air fuel ratio display on the handheld is cool and you can see how its running at all times without buying anything else. Nice work MSD.
And built in fuel pump relay to go with the fan relay/controller. Id actually be REMOVING wires and relays to install this kit. Time to save my pennies. Hmmm, Paint jpb for the 93 Mustang or Fuel Injection for the Maverick. about the same price and hard choice.
This is the only price I could find for now, http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD%20Ignition/121/2910/10002/-1?CT=999 Im sure it will go down after its releases and more vendors compete for sales. It will need to get down to about $1500 to be competitive with the Powerjection III.
the fact that it offers timing control over the other ones is a significant advantage. as long as the timing control is really flexible. im not sure how they can do self tuning timing unless its using a knock sensor. even then it would difficult to make it self tuning. i would be very interested to work with it, i just need to find some one who will buy it an bring it to me for their car.
If MSD's "GRID" system is any indication. You will set your Distributor at Max advance and the Module will reduce timing on a timing curve, that will more than likely depend on RPM, Throttle position etc. I don't think there is a knock sensor with this system. MAP, Intake Temp, TPS, Coolant temp, and O2 is all that is used.
they can do allot with the map sensor. i would have to guess that the fuel is self tuning and you set the timing curves. if thats the case then there is minimal advantage to this system. if they have some way of figuring out optimum timing then it would have a huge advantage over the other systems.
