Hey all! Goodmorning! My name is Tenzin, and I'm fresh to the Maverick forums. Thanks for letting me be part of your community! I'm a freelance photographer/writer/artist out of west Tennessee. Mothership to three stellar little girls. San Fran born/raised and was transplanted to the deep south in 2005. Growing up, I developed a quiet fascination with cars watching my dad's love affair with his 1971 Ford Econoline van. He loved that van, and put more time and care into it than anyone could understand. He used to kid that when he died, he wanted the casket put into the van and the van driven down into the ground so they could be buried together. ;-) The van retired, honorably, in 2003 with 353,000 miles on the odometer. Several years ago I dated a fella who was restoring a '68 Barracuda, and caught the restoration bug from him. Ever since that time, I've been (casually) on the lookout for the perfect opportunity to give it go on my own. I believe in the power of coincidence, and there was a lot of it in play in the series of events that lead me to finally purchasing my project car two days ago. 1971 Maverick coupe. Inline 6, matching numbers, 62,000 original miles. And my some bizarre luck; I managed to snag it for shockingly little moola. Couldn't say no to that! It needs sweet lovin' (mainly cosmetic) but it runs....which is half the battle. I'm in love with her already, and forsee that she'll own my soul for the next couple years while I slowly fix her up. Can't wait to pick the brains of the Maverick elite. Thanks again!
Welcome Tenzin!!! It looks like you are already figuring out how to post in the Parts section, and you are not afraid to ask questions, so you are well on your way! There are alot of great members that live in your general area, so you are in good company. Congrats on picking a 71 Maverick...that is a great year for one.
Welcome. Lots of help on here. P.S. You should post some of your photography etc. Gets kind of slow on here in the Winter.
Thanks all! I used to cruise lots of bbc style forums when I was learning photography....so this feels very homey + familiar (and I mean that in the BEST way). I'm a self-teacher with most things, and cars are no exception. I refuse to let this intimidate me, and therefore, have to avoid any prideful notions that might prevent me from asking pertinent or, dare I say it, "DUH" level questions. No one in my immediate family or social circle can be classified as a car enthusiast on any level. This is a tremendous breath of fresh air.
Welcome from Ocala,Florida....... I'm a owner of a 71 as well, you may not know it yet but you just got adopted by the biggest car nut family you'll ever want
Right on! Im up in Jackson. Should you ever feel like tinkering with a car for fun, you know where to find us. Your ride is gorgeous!
Welcome to the Forum I've been wanting to get into photography, I started saving up for a basic DSLR and I thought $360 would be enough, then I realized even the entry level ones costs more than that. Oh well 'll just keep saving
