Hey ya'll. My fuel line is clogged somewhere between the tank and the pump (pump is at front of car) Any ideas??? I need some fast, cause it is on the side of the road. I think I will take a portable air tank and try to blow the line back towards the tank from the front of the car! Think is will work???? Thanks, Preston
carefull you dont blow the in tank filter off the sender.. check the hose that goes from the tank to the hard line. maybe you can narrow it down from there
when you go to the car, make sure to have a coupla feet of fuel line and some clamps, I think it is 3/8" line ..... there is not that much rubber line on there ... from tank to steel line, about 6 inches, and from steel to pump then to engine..... as for being clogged .......dunno, just make sure to take off gas cap so the pressure in the gas tank, from the air tank, doesn't douse you with "unclogged" gas ...... Robert
check the rubber lines make sure there not collapsed theres one from the tank to the frame line and think one up by the front of the door
Don't use compressed air. I had a blockage in the fuel line of my 70 when I got it because it had sat for about 5 years. I attached a good clean piece of fuel hose to the metal line where it comes into the engine bay and blew thru the line until I felt the blockage let go and air bubbling in the gas tank. Give it a try. -Corbin
Best to use forced air from the gas cap forward, make seal with a rag, or even your hand, push the stuff in the tank out towards your fuel pump. I have done this many times with dormant cars. Of course, you have to disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump. Dan ps Keep with it Preston!!
