1972 Maverick Sprint was told its the original I6 200 but havent confirmed it. it does have a newer 1bbl carb on it though. I have rebuilt the carb, new wires, plugs, points, set the gap and timing. No air just heat which i need a new heater core for I believe. Picked up the car for $730 running, drove it home about 125 miles. Bad exhaust leak but have already received headers for it from classic inlines. cheapest headers for the i6 ive seen. have yet to install them. It has an auto 3 speed trans. Ive begun rust repair which is worst on the lower fenders/quarters. interior needs work but im trying to get the body done before winter. feel free to comment and ill try to update as it goes.

I would say you are going to need another driver's side fender. That one is too far gone in my opinion.

Im on a very tight budget so im will salvage anything I can. Personally ive never done body work on a car. plenty on motorcycles though. I think the fender is solid except the few rust spots. I dont have money for a diff one but i have time to fix this one so I shall. ill keep ya guys updated when I can!

Started work on the driver fender. Got it off of the car and cut and patched some of the rust. started filling in pin holes and cleaning up the back side of it. Hoping to have it finished and primered by the end of the weekend. Ill get some pics up soon.

well here are pics of my progress this weekend. not done patching but getting close. doesnt look the best either. oh well. we shall see how it looks after primer and bondo. And yes ive been welding it hanging from my engine hoist. No welding table unfortunately. My garage is a mess at the moment. Any comments/tips/positive criticism feel free to share. I have to get some different wire to weld with. What I have is for thicker metal for bike frames.

Isn't it kinda hard to weld with it hanging there? Some .030 wire is a good general size, Tractor Supply has it for a good price.

its not too bad most of the but it does make for an interesting challenge at times. wish I had a table to weld on...

the headers i picked up for 225- it costs like $25 more i think? if you want them powder coated or chromed or whatever. and shipping was like $26. So $250 give or take shipped in the mild steel with no special coatings. Figured Id just spray em with exhaust paint that handles high temps.
