I didn't care for the looks of my plain Jane Steering wheel. Plus....it had numerous cracks. Thank to ebay...and Darren....I updated the steering wheel on my blue 1976 4-door today.

The new wheel is PERFECT. No cracks!! I also like the shape of the center support. I have had this type of steering wheel before and prefer its shape. I can put my left elbow on the door arm rest and my left hand just rests perfect on the downturn area of the center support of the steering wheel.

Never had a Mav/Comet with the wheel on the left. All mine have had the one on the right, except my yellow car which had an aftermarket wheel when I got it.
That style on the right was used on a lot of Fords. My 84 pickup had one in black, my 87 E350 motorhome has a tan one. I even saw a few on eBay that had a John Deere emblem in the center, supposedly for a Ford chassis motorhome that John Deere sold under their brand name.
They are nice wheels, just a bit thin on the rim. My 84 pickup had the cruise control buttons in the spokes....

Much better, I've never liked that round center wheel, it looks like something from an old van/

Yup. Looks like it belongs on there. You put it together nicely.

Those two pictures are taken from almost the exact same spot!

Wished I had a second Mav to drive....I'll have to wait for the right time.

The steering wheel on my Sprint is like that but maybe skinnier wheel. Its really not very comfortable to hold. Is there something that can be added, like maybe a leather wrap, that would increase the size of the rim and would look good? Or a later, similar wheel with a larger grip?

Also, harder to reach the horn when it is clear in the middle. With the new wheel...I can reach the horn with my thumbs.

Glad it worked out Craig. It is a comfy wheel to drive with and the horn is handy where it is, like you said. I bought it out of Michigan if I remember right. Maybe thats why its not so sun beat like the southern stuff. Paid the same price for it as you did. Nice wheel for that price I would say. LOL.
