Hello all , I'm a life long Oregonian age 46 married in 90' with 2 girls age 7 &13 I've had muscle cars in the past in high school and just after.A 67 stang with a 351c roller motor swap , 429scj powered torino and a bone stock 72 real v8 grabber. but after getting married no play cars other then our set up for mud drags and sand 74 408 stroker powered bronco.i've been a good boy on the street since then, those cars got me many citatations and fines about two months ago my wife got a hair up her as* that we had to find a 70's project car . now i grew up and work on the farm and lets say wages are not cuda or shelby level so we decided on lookin for a mav or comet. we spent a month looking at over priced junk or done wrong and already restored cars and nothin suited us or our budget then this craigslist ad popped up and simply said comet for sale 800.00$ no picture either i thought just more junk but decided to call wth ! upon calling the seller discribed the car as ok, pretty straight and complete with bad motor and been sitting in a small shed since 92' interior ok but with one tear in drivers seat, a small dent in the driver side rocker where a jack was put and car slid off it, front grill broken and starting to show some surface rust. and then stated 37,250 orig miles and that they were the orig owners !! ok now i had to see this car, drove the two hours to see the car and there it was still in the half fallen down shed with a partial roof left on it covered in blackberry vines A 73 comet 2dr ldo trim with factory v8 five lug w factory air & tinted windows in two tone, lower half that bronze brown and upper in white with vinyl top rotted off. first thing i notice is the wheels and tires and the seller replies brand new in 92' with only maybe 50 miles on them. true crager slots 14x6 fronts and 14x8 rears minor oxidation from sitting with also new in 92' bfg radial ta's 215/60 fr 265/50 rears, a perfect fit in the rear, they really fill the wheel well yet clear the springs and fender lip. i then notice its a drummer up front and say to them- to bad its drums- there reply is lol! open the truck because there is a complete from dash brackets to lines 75 mav power disc setup in there and sure enough everything !! booster,spindles, rotors, calipers,master,lines,bias vavle etc , great !! but also a down fall, brake fluid draws moister and the parts caused the truck pan to rot some . car was straight too ! paint old and showing it very little rust other than truck area and under the hood along the trim . all the trim mouldings and chrome is great even the light bezels , except for the rr quarter ldo trim has a 3" scraped area . I open the door to see a well preserved interior, complete, some mildew stain and fading but still great other than the two inch tear in the driver side bucket. odometer 37,255.8 wow ! I asked about the motor and they say it was idling to warm up and it just did a sudden and hard stop and would not crank over even with a new battery but looked into it no further and into the shed it went !! now this car is very close to the one that was listed on ebay about three days ago that did not sell at 3600.00 its in the ebay link here under 73 comet. oh mine also needs a rear bumper its tweaked and dinged in the middle but the rest of the car is surprisingly close to this ebay car but with two tone , the wheels and tires and disc conversion and vinyl top rotted off or tore off, I didn't care about the motor i want to do a 347 stroker with alum. heads and hyd roller cam setup anyways . price you ask ?? remember the ad comet 800.00$ they just wanted to get there money back for the tires and wheels so I offered them 700.00 cash and they accepted and I ran!! as fast as I could to the nearest dmv to tranfer the title !! and the next day i found a perfect complete grill with lights and mounts on my local craigslist for 80.00$ now i'll post pictures as soon as i figure out how on your forum, there on my phones micro sd card. And this is my real story and im sticking to it !!! lol bargains are still out there !! note : see my post under comet parts wanted !! thanks all and great forum you guys have with tons of info !! were planning a complete tear down and restore and paint at the shop on this one !! thinking Ldo gt clone maybe ?!?! car is home now and looks pretty good all washed and srcrubbed clean but from sitting needs full tear down and paint and freshened up to kill the rust that is just starting !! Welcome from a fellow Oregonian and Maverick - Comet lover. Sounds like you got yourself a great deal and a good way to occupy your time. Cant wait to see pics and hear about progress you have made on car. Now the search begins for more parts to back up the 347 planned for the car
Hello right back fellow ford followers< now maybe I'm just missing something here but I would love to post pics. I went to faq's and it says user cp then click pictures and images make a album etc there is no images and pictures option in the cp I get . there has to be simple way to upload pics from my computer !!

from the great NW. Are you near the ST Paul area? I have relatives that farm there. Looks like a good project and sounds like you have a good plan.
