Hey all. I have the opportunity to buy a 73 Grabber. I am really debating over whether I should or not. Normally I would, but the funds that would go to buying it are comming out of the fund for my 70 Grabber resto. So I've been weighing in my head the pros and cons of buying the 73 Grabber. I don't need the car, but it's cheap ($1200) and not too far away. Another thing is that it's a Grabber, a 302, C4, factory air, and power steering. It is white with orange stripes and orange interior (70s, baby!! :) ) It runs good and is in good daily driver shape meaning, it has a couple dings (nothing major) and little rust (small hole in rear quarter, as usual). Original paint, no body work has ever been done to it. It is original, but someone put in buckets from another car so the original buckets are gone. The a/c compressor was stolen as well. (Why do people always steal those??) The glass is good. Some slight surface rust on the floor boards, but the cowls are fine. The carpet is gone. Basically, a decent driver with a good runnning original 302. What should I do? I really want a 71-72 Grabber, but this is a good deal. Maybe I could hold onto it for a few years and then sell it? Help!

    Debating in CA,
    -Corbin

Orange is the only 1973 Grabber I would think about purchasing ... for some reason I really like the Orange Interior ... Just make sure you factor in locating and purchased 73 buckets and having them redone in Orange if you want the car to be right. I would definitely consider it if it was in Georgia ...

Corbin it sounds like you are spreading yourself a little thin. As much as I would love to see a maverick find a home in your capable hands, I think you aswered your own question by asking it.;)

Hey Corbin, I found a Maverick for sale close to me and considered buying it. I even had a hard time sleeping at night just thinking of all the different things I could do with it. It also was a good deal. I passed on it. Like you, I needed to spend my money elsewhere. You mentioned you would rather have a 70-72 Grabber. I say hold out for what you really want. It'll come available sooner or latter.

Whats the boss..............I mean wife say?

Thanks for the input guys. That's what I am leaning towards. I'll let this one slide. If anyone hears of a 71-72 Grabber in my area, let me know. Thanks for the reassurance. Someone else will get a good starter car.

for that price how wrong can you go? You have a Grabber, V-8, A/C car and acceptable colors. I suspect you could sell it for that price anytime. The only issue for me would be the missing seats.

    1. Paint is Paint and it does not cost any more to paint a 90% great old paint job than a 30% one. probably a couple hundred would fix the body work.

    2. Screw the a/c compressor. You were gonna have to replace it anyway.

    3. Ditto for the carpet.

I've never seen an orange interior. Sounds cool.

Any pics of an orange interior out there? I can't recall seeing one either (maybe I just can't remember at my age). Curious. Sounds kind of cool.

Corbin, I like the 73' orange and white theme as well, I almost bought one, but was a day late. It was a pretty solid car, it would be hard to turn down, considering it's a 302 and a/c car. Just my .02.

I say go for it Corbin. One more Mav in your yard means one less in the crusher. I sure wish there were Grabbers (or any Mavs) for sale around here.
