Well, I think I may have solved a bit of my speed problem. It seems as though when I installed my carpet last time, the extra insulation was a mistake. I put three layers under the carpet. Definatly more quiet and cool, but now my pedal won't open the throttle but 3/4 of the way. How can I remedy this? Can the acc pedal rod/shaft be bent. I need some Ideas with this one. Thanks ya'll. Preston

i had the same prob. what i did was take the extra pad from under the pedal. i just cut a section about 2' wide so the rod could get into the carpet. hope this info. helps...frank...

You can bend the bracket thats bolted to the intake manifold a little, but you can olny bend that so much before the cable will start to bind ...

People pay good money for a throttle stop in drag racing and you've discovered one by accident. Good job Country. lol (y)

Maybe that will work on my wifes car?:D

I agree with Frank on this one. Removing some of the insulation from around the pedal is most like likely the bestest way.

I would make a spacer and put it behind the pedal mount or just heat and bend the pedal arm itself. 2 nuts and the pedal assembly is out. Much easier than pulling carpet.

Well, I fixed it. It turns out that (in my case anyway  ) that the V-8 throttle cable is shorter than the I-6 Throttle cable. When I did the I6 to V8 swap last summer, the V8 T-cable that I had wouldn't work. So I just re-used the I6 cable. But it was too long for the edelbrock carb I guess, because I installed the V8 cable just now and it is perfect! Man what a difference in Throttle response!! Now that I can actually use all 4 barrels, this thing flies! It has never pulled like it does now. So I guess this will tide me over for a little while. Thanks ya'll!! Preston

Hmm.......Not sure if I should endanger everyone else by telling.........Just kidding. The motor's nothing to really brag on at this point, but it does pretty good by me.
It's a 302 +40 (308) with ported/polished/shaved heads, Holley Street Dominator intake, Edelbrock 600 Carb, .446Intake/.446Exhaust cam, Bearings +10, Long tube headers, New C-4 tranny (with column shifter), and I still have the 3.00 (single tire fryer) rear end. Most of the other mod have been to the interior like sound system, alarm, carpet, etc. Nothing fancy, but I have a lot of fun and get a lot of looks with it. Desktop Dyno shows my engine to be making 377 @ 4500 on torque and peak horsepower as 389 @ 6000. I will not spin this motor to 6 grand, so my peak power in normal range is 357 @ 5000. Like I said, not astronomical, but decent. I will be adding new springs and traction bars this week, along with the new slots I got. That's about it I'm thinking. Ain't much but boy it's fun!!
