How do I access the hoses that are going thru firewall of my '74 Maverick Grabber 302?

The heater hoses should terminate right at the firewall. The outlets for your heater core extend into the engine bay.

That is ... assuming your car is as it left the factory.

EDIT .... this only applies to A/C cars .... see below ...

You will only be able to access the heater hoses from the engine compartment if it had factory Air Conditioning. If it did not then you will have to get to them from under the dash inside the car (BIG PITA). I have seen it done and I even TRIED to do it one time without loosening the heater box but you have to be a contortionist. Good luck!

Dang ... sorry for the mis-information. I am rebuilding my A/C box today. Been looking at it a lot lately.

    Haven't played with a non-A/C heater core since 1986 ....

Did my new heater core and hoses over my lunch at work. If its no AC like mine the core can be done in the car without removing the box. Getting the clips of the housing near the kick panel is the only hard part. I had to bend up a nice long Snap On screw driver as a tool to get at the clips. I would think its a ton easier to pull the heater core to do the hoses. Cant imagine trying to get them off in the car. Waste of time and effort. Might as well pull it and install a new core for the price of them. Mine was 22 bucks new from Carquest. I think around 45 bucks retail.

One other thing you have to look at is he has a 74 with a lower dash and a glove box. Completely different animal there. Not just a couple of bolts and screws to take off the package tray.

Yep your right. Big difference. Didnt even enter my head about no package tray. Never owned one without the tray so it eludes me. My bad.
