Thanks, I was curious to see how early they came out with them and if they came on the 71' or 72' Grabber or not. My 71' Grabber has them as well, but I was beginning to wonder if it was original or not?, because I have a 72' Maverick and it doesn't have them. The 71' Grabber was built in late 71'. It looks like Ford rolled them out on the Grabbers first. I had always seen them on later model Mavericks, but I didn't know when they were first put on the Mavericks. Does anyone else have these on their 71' Grabbers or know anymore about this?
They were part of an option package I believe, and didn't necessarily come with the Grabber package. I'd have to check, but I'm thinking I've read they were only on Bucket Seat Equipped cars.
I have a 71 brochure and even though it dosent show them, it does list "Deluxe Door Trim Panels" in the options list. There is no date on this brochure so I dont know if its an early or late publication.
Thanks guys, that helps. FYI, the car does have factory bucket seats and was a special order vehicle so that may explain it.
'72 Grabber with emblem Both of my '72 Grabbers came with bench seats. One car has the emblem on the doors. The door trim was apparently a separate option from ordering bucket seats. -Doug
Doug: Does the car that has the emblems have the longer arm rests that ARE NOT interchangeable from side to side?
Armrest No, it has the short, interchangeable armrest. Wierd! I has the characteristics of the deluxe door panel, except for that. (This is the brown interior with various shades of tan stripes on the seats). -Doug
Craig, mine DOES have the longer non-interchangeable armrest. I hadn't noticed the difference until you said something, so I had to go double check.
All the cars I have seen with the deluxe door panels had the longer arm rests. That is what my 1972 will have.
I parted out a 71 major rust bucket eons ago that had a perfect deluxe black interior. It had the longer arm rest. The interior ended up in my Sprint for many years before I restored it. The buckets are still there, just recovered in Sprint colors. Still have the door panels and arm rest. They are in #1 condition.
Mavaholic, Mine aren't that nice, would you consider selling them? If so email at maverick.guy@netzero.net Thanks,
