motor and tranny question

    i am a new member. i have a comet that originally had a 289 with a c4, i was thinking of putting in a 400 and would like to go to a manual tranny. am just looking for some input or thoughts about doing this and what tranny would be good or if i should stay with an auto. also wondering if i should use the 400 or go with a 460 or 302.
