Distributor..

    I have a 85 5.0 with an old mallory points ign. Well i want to go to Elec. Can i just buy a new MSD like i want or do i have to buy some other stuff to go with it. P.S i already got a new wiring harness for the car, a MSD Blaster coil want to get a ign system a cheap one but somthing that well give it a kick. so what do i do? Thanks Marc-Anthony

    If you are running an '85 5.0 with a roller cam, make sure that you get a bronze
    distributor gear. The std. gear on most any new distributor is not designed for
    roller cams.
    I have a Mallory Unilite mechanical advance. It is a sweet simple setup. Some people
    prefer the MSD distributors b/c they have roller bearings as opposed to the std.
    bushing in the Mallory. Personally I don't see the need unless you are turning mucho
    RPM's. Be sure that you run any needed ballast resistors as suggested.
    It generally depends on the coil used.

    Al right thanks Seth. no i am not running a roller cam well not yet that is.
