I have a 85 5.0 with an old mallory points ign. Well i want to go to Elec. Can i just buy a new MSD like i want or do i have to buy some other stuff to go with it. P.S i already got a new wiring harness for the car, a MSD Blaster coil want to get a ign system a cheap one but somthing that well give it a kick. so what do i do? Thanks Marc-Anthony
If you are running an '85 5.0 with a roller cam, make sure that you get a bronze distributor gear. The std. gear on most any new distributor is not designed for roller cams. I have a Mallory Unilite mechanical advance. It is a sweet simple setup. Some people prefer the MSD distributors b/c they have roller bearings as opposed to the std. bushing in the Mallory. Personally I don't see the need unless you are turning mucho RPM's. Be sure that you run any needed ballast resistors as suggested. It generally depends on the coil used. Seth
