Status on the cruise control idea? I'd sure like to have cruise on the Mav.

InjectedMav is right....The Maverick California speedometer sensor cable can be adapted to work with Cruise Control.

If you have the Factory Maverick cable, then you can do a cleaner install, when mating to an aftermarket Cruise Control Kit. If you don't, then Dakota Digital sells the driveshaft magnet add on kits.

I have seen on here where some members have used the Dakota Digital Kits, and they look very nice, and they sell the the turn signal switch, that screws into the Ford cars, that has the integral controls built in. Looks very nice:

If I was going to install one, I would try the Dakota Digital Kit. It has a control unit that connects to your throttle to control speed.

Interesting note: The early mustangs from 67-69 had a Factory option for Cruise Control, and was extremely rare. The turn signal buttons on those looked like this:

I bought the sensor and cables Craig had. It'll be this winter before I get to fool around with it.

    OK, thanks.

Agree, the DD kit looks good. Didn't realize they were that much. Maybe some year.

That speed sensor will work for cruise. I used a similar set of cables with the sensor from a '70s Lincoln to add "factory" cruise to my Maverick. I now have most of the cruise from a late 80's T-Bird to interface with my EFI, but before that when I had a carburetor I had a cool bracket/actuator set-up that I found in a V-8 Mercury Monarch. All of the Ford cruise controls from the 70's thru at least the early to mid 90's could be used with any steering wheel with the cruise control buttons...so if you really want to you could grab the wiring harnesses and other parts from the junk yard and put Ford "factory" cruise in any Maverick/Comet. More work than most would bother with...but I like the end result. :)

Yeah, I digress a bit...but anyway, that sensor works great for cruise. ;)

Nice, but the picture is of a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7. (y)

Good eye for detail. Yeah...they use the same cruise lever as the 69 Mustangs.
