Hey guys! So my 302 aftermarket non-baffled valve covers just have very nice looking caps instead of an opening for a pcv valve or tube to the air cleaner on the other side. Are aftermarket valve covers designed this way for a reason or should I try to figure out how to make a pcv system? Found this article http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=27424&highlight=302+pcv+valve+cover&page=4 Makes me think maybe it's meant to be that way
Some covers just use breathers. Dont put a PCV valve in the cover if it doesnt have a baffle. It really depends on your application though. Street car, Race car, engine specs and the valve cover design as to what if any PCV your going to use. My buddies 9 sec Vette race car runs PCV to the header. I wouldnt run mine without a PCV. Our climate can generate quite a bit of condensation in the engine. The PCV draws out all those nasty fumes and circulates fresh filtered air into the motor.
Took out the cap and fit a pcv grommet in there. Its alil loose, but I can use some permatex to fill the gap. Relying on my buddy's camera for the time, so no pics yet It's a street car, daily driver sorta thing. There are no baffles in the valve covers. Maybe that's why it came with the cap....? I don't fully understand the importance of the baffle I guess. They are pretty tall valve covers. Could that be a reason for no baffles? Can't even find a part number on these things haha
