Has anyone put one of the vintage air underdash kits in a Maverick? I am going to put air in my car, parts cars where I live are impossible to find so a donor car is out of the question, any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
Contact Classic Air also, I think they do more Ford products. They are gud folks to work with. I have one of their under hood kits on my car - was a pretty easy install. My car had/has fac AC, but they may have an answer for ur issue.
Ditto. I got the same kit as MOJO. My car was also a factory AC car but I got the impression they had the stuff to put AC on a non-AC Mav/Comet. Don't think they list kits for the Mav/Comet but they gave me everything I needed building off a Mustang kit and for about the same price as Mustang.
I used a Vintage Air universal Gen III system in mine. Not a bolt-in, there will be some fab work involved. I ran the hoses through the fenderwell so nothing intrudes through the firewall...
I didn't see a gen III in their catalog. I like vintage air though, they seem to have good reviews as well.
Those of you that used Classic Air, can you tell us which setup to order or parts numbers. if setup was custom designed by them maybe an order number so they could look it up to duplicate order being it is a setup known to work.
Don't have part numbers -- you should call them and tell them what you want to do for condenser, dryer, and evaporator. I had them rebuild the dryer and refurbish the evaporator. They had another company build an original fit, serial flow evaporator. You can also get a more efficient parallel flow condensor but not sure about fit. Think they might be universal fit.
You can also get a more efficient parallel flow condensor but not sure about fit. I have the 16"*18" parallel flow condenser frm Classic. Not a difficult fit. It's almost exact size as the original. U get all kinds of brackets w/ the unit, just a matter of some minor fab work to get it installed/working. I can post some pics of my setup. I think there are some already somewhere on the forum - I just have to find them.
Check my gallery for some pix. I posted some today, the latest ones. If u have any other questions - be glad to help where I can. Also, JRArnold "Jim" has vry similiar setup - Good Guy, helped me a lot. I have condenser #16182P; my unit has the connections facing vertical whereas the fac units were horiz. As u can see I have a short hose bent 180' frm the dryer mounted behind the rad support. Hope this helps.
One of the street rod ac companies will convert your existing controls to work with their box. I can't remember for sure but it seems like it was either Hot Rod Air or Coyote Air. Classic is a very good group of people to deal with from what I've heard also.
