My Sprint probably scared the bearings right out of it. You shouldnt have told your car you was gonna have a rematch.
How about checking the oil pump shaft. I had that happen when I first rebuilt my engine. Got on it hard, & the oil pressue went to zero. Limped it back home. It ran fine with lifters knocking & 0 oil pressure. Pulled the distributor & the oil shaft was broken & twisted like a candy cane. I went to the local parts store & got a heavy duty oil pump shaft ($15.00). I haven't had a problem since. Oh, yea! Came to find out, a piece of silicone gasket maker had gotten to the oil pump. I also put a finer mesh screen on the oil pump.
That was my first thought too Coop....I pulled the distributor and rotated the pump shaft...moves freely and moves oil up the gauge line...could still be the pump itself though...the vibration is what has got me puzzled right now...Dennis are you implying that it spun a bearing...that would be just my luck, but would explain the vibration.
Yea, i would go with what mercury said. Since the bottom of the oil sump is at the back you shouldnt have to worry about the oil pressure lowering on take off.
Did you get it straightened out? Hope nothing was really injured. Don't know if it helps, but I feel for ya, and I'm pulling for you. Good luck with it, and by the way......Nice launch in the other post. Take care........Preston
Well I just got back from the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge, for the number of cars and people I can't say that I've ever been to a bigger show absolutely incredible, I think I overdosed on Camaro's and Mustangs though The only disappointment was there was only 1 ,that's right ,ONE Maverick their and it sat in the same spot for 5 days and never moved as it was For Sale, here's a pic for those interested. That makes it all the worse that I couldn't bring my car as it would have definitely stuck out as would any Mav or Comet. We had a great time though, I will definitely be back next year with the Mav, even if I have to Fred Flintstone it down the parkway Preston I'll find out whats wrong with the engine tommorrow hopefully. BTW, the Countach can be YOURS for a mere 120 Grand
How much did they want for the mav looked clean? Did you get a name and number. Shopping for one for my brother but would prefer a comet gt
I figured the rod run would have been cancelled due to all the bad weather.....I was without electricity from Thursday night to Sunday night. It really sucked!! My wife's work was under water again this weekend, for the second time in as many weeks!!
Stephen, Thursday was the only bad day for rain...otherwise the weather was great. It wasn't until the drive home I found out I-40 in North Carolina had been washed out. Had to go up to Johnson City and come back down I-26 to Asheville. There saying it will be a year before that section of I-40 opens again. I know yall caught it again being on the east side of what was the eye wall...hopefully we will get a break now.
Sorry bad mav...missed that question...the car was setup for the strip, supposedly would run high 7's in the eighth...he was asking 6500.00 for it which I thought was a bit high so I didn't bother getting the number..it was still sitting their sunday morning when I left.
Was it really crowded Rick? Last time I was there it was so crowded that it was quicker to walk then it was to drive around town.....
Crowded would be an understatement. Traffic was 3 lanes backed all the way up to Seveirville. We got to light #1 and found a place to park and walked the rest. It was well worth it though just to see all the cars.
