hear's wat i did to delete my P/S

    i did this in about a half hour the pully is from one of my 91 e350 ford vans i had its the AC delete pully then i took some flat steel marked and cut drilled holes one 1/2 harden bolt & spacer from a 90 f350 rear sway bar link :bananaman:bananaman:bananaman :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: every thing was free .....PRICELESS !!!!!! lol no more leeky power steering :burnout::burnout: 9_9.jpg hkylu_original.jpg jkil_original.jpg iulup_original.jpg

    Nice, but what FEAD are you using ? (Front End Accessory Drive) And what did you do about the power steering ram in the drag link ? And the hoses ?

    VERY dangerous! I have seen that ball stud pop right out of the valve.


    The pulley and bracket you made is very cool, tho!:thumbs2:

    im useing the pully set up from an 82 mustang 302 & as for the ram just took it off & im going to order the center link for manual & pitment arm too (y)

    :naughty: Seen it (The ball stud popping out of the valve) I had it happen years ago on my Comet GT luckly I was only going about 20 mph.

    i was just woundering what is so different about this pice 140.jpg to the ones on ower cars if i was to eliminat the valve at the end of it and make a plate to go on it,it looks like all they did is cut the valve off and put a plug with a cotter pin :hmmm:. i hate being told you "cant do it" "can't" is'nt in my vocabulary thats why "i can" make alot of things.just saying any body got any in put on this :hmmm:

    The cups that hold the ball stud have no slop in those. For the time and effort it took me to build mine I could had bought one that was proven to work its a big risk you take on something that takes so much stress and I wouldn't dare try it with a old worn out stud, brass sleeve and cups fwiw

    They did a little more than just put a plate on the end of the valve. The ball socket that the post mates to is essentially a ball joint. I'm not going to say you can't do it, I'm just saying do your homework and if you're a decent fabricator, you could make something work. The factory power steering piece doesn't carry nearly the load that the manual center link and pitman arm carries due to the mounting location of the ram. I suspect that piece has a preloaded ball joint built into it which is significantly different than the power valve stud ball socket. (see the exploded view)

    I don't think you'll find a picture of the internals of the aftermarket piece, but the exploded view of the valve was what I was referring to. It shows the cups that Joe Dirt was talking about and the sleeve. Basically, what I saying is that a true ball joint or tie rod is a hardened and preloaded ball and socket and you will need to find a way to design a piece that is capable of those loads. A tie rod or ball joint can usually take a substantial hit without separation, the valve ball and socket can come apart with a pry bar without a lot of effort. Just don't want to see you get hurt or wreck your car.:Handshake
