We picked out a housing. It's probably from an earlier bronco, it's a solid 9". Bryant had it laying around for some time. Going to have it shortened, the spring perches placed correctly and get started on it. I cleaned up real good in the solvent tank, it's ready for the welder dude to get on it. We have some strange caliper brackets. Going to order calipers from CNC Brakes.
this is the case that I think we are going to be putting in and going with 4.10 gears. http://www.strangeengineering.net/catalog/029.html
How much does a complete 9" weight compared to a complete 8" ? I wonder if it'll make your 1/4 mile times slower? (because of the weight?)
I would think it weighs more which should make my 1/4mi slower but my rear end will no longer be the weakest link. I would guess the T5 case would be the weakest after this upgrade.
If you need to narrow it, it's not an early Bronco housing. It's from a big Bronco, same as the one I put into my Comet.
It cost me $385 to have the housing shortened, straightened and there was some damage to the lower part of the housing, apparently it had gotten dragged so the metal was pretty thin. On a brighter note, I may have my old 8" sold. Bryant found someone who is interested.
had a friend sand blast the whole thing, came out so amazingly clean! probably should have taken a pic of that but I painted it over the wkend at the shop, looks nice.
