I have these http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/Cooper_Cobra_GT_Tires.cfm?pn=CT-39637&pID=2272 and they rub on that lip. Is it a supsension issue? or are these tires just the wrong size? Thanks
What kind of wheels do you have? Sounds like you have too little backspacing, because those tires should fit fine. Also, do you have the original rear end on your car?
What wheels do you have? A P235/70/15 should not hit unless your backspace is wrong or you swapped in a wider rear end.
I have this style http://www.summitracing.com/search/...-Racing-Rodlite-Polished-Wheels/?autoview=SKU I'm not sure on the size though how do I go about measuring? Sorry the P.O bought and installed 'em. I now know that he didn't know what he was doing about 90% of the time Its the original rear end too
Measure your backspacing: http://www.vintagewheelworks.com/tech-backspace.php And try and measure your rear end, flange to flange or axle to axle. Let us know what you find.
Ok so my axle measured about 53.5in from the outermost part of the drum (not the lugs) to the outermost part of drum. My backspace was 5 maybe 5.5in
Ok, someone will have to help us out on the drum to drum measurement, I do not know if that is stock or not. But that backspacing sounds high. You did measure the back side of the rim lip to the flange, correct? Do you know how wide the wheels are? Put two flat edges on the outer and inner wheel lips, and measure through the center hole of the wheel to get the width of the wheel.
Ok I'll go out and measure again it's probable that I measured wrong. Can you be more specific how you want me to measure the rear end?
Drum to drum is fine, I just do not know what a stock length is. You could also measure it flange to flange, which is where the drum backing plate bolts to. But, drum to drum should be fine, my axles are removed, so I cannot double check that measurement for you. Can someone verify the stock drum to drum length for rustymav?
Turns out I measured my front space my back space was 3.5 in. it got too dark before I could measure axle flange to flange, will do that tomorrow.
