People have no respect. Now this isn't the Maverick. It is my 06 Corvette, but still should treated the same by people I would think. I park out in the boonies of the parking lot so my car will not get hit by carts or door dings. I come out from shopping and there are 4 carts around my car like someone pushed them into it. No scratch's that I can see, but still why do people do that? And there is no way the wind could have blown 4 carts that way. "Carts were all around my car not on just one side." Grrrr...... Must be a corvette curse! This has happened multi times at different places. Even at work, which we have a gated parking lot. Someone at work put some kind of tub or something on my car and scratched a good 10 inch's on my fender. With the scratch's facing downward like someone set something on my fender and it slide down a half inch. No one confessed to doing it, which I wish they would have then the company would have paid for the repairs. But instead I had to wet sand it and buff and polish the best I could for now. Hard to see it unless in certain angles of light. This is driving me nuts how people don't care. Thanks had to vent I feel better now!!!
Corvettes attract attention. Around here they have a negative stigma attached to them, mid-life crisis guys, trying to be 18 again.... Going to cars shows as long as I have, I can tell you, there is nothing like a Corvette owner......I don't dislike the cars, just usually the owners are a little much to handle. No offense.
People are *******s and don't have the balls to say things to your face. That's why the Mustang never gets driven. I don't want to end up wasting $2k of ass busting money. Sorry to hear that there are lots of "haters" around you!
People are just ignorant when it comes to nice cars and very often jealous especially when you park them in 2 spots or at the back of the lot. Have to admit I've met quite a few Vette owners that annoy me. Just met one last week actually in his 2010 model. Middle aged, Sunglasses on his head, vette jacket and all. Doesnt know one end of a car from the other. Oh boy. Still a nice car though.
People these days don't have the respect for material things that others have earned. A lot, these days, want everything handed to them. If you work hard for something you like to keep it nice and you respect others possessions since you know what it takes to earn something like that. Sorry to hear of that happening.
It is true though, vette owners do have a stigma. I usually keep to myself, I don't brag about the vette. I do drive it fast though!!! It was made to do that!!! But really I get more positive attention from my maverick and thumbs up all the time in it. The vette, well not many people want to try and talk to you. Same thing with my 74 vette I had. Personally I enjoy all types of cars, and respect them. It becomes more of a hobby then just a car to get around in or show off. But if it ever happened to the maverick I would have been even more pissed. The maverick is my baby. lol. But still shouldn't happen to any car.
It's the pits for sure. Where I used to work there was a smart ars that thought it would be funny to stack the order of tractor weights around my bike. No big deal right? Well yes it was, the forklift we had was a 1953 Clark that did NOT have the capacity to pick the weights. In order to off load them we had to have two "healthy" guys hang off the back! Too much can go wrong when these jerks pull these antics.
That "Vette stigma" exists everywhere I think, and it's a damn shame. I'd love to have one, but I've never pursued it, probably never will. A Corvette is everything I want in a car, but if a young guy drives one, people think "Look what daddy bought for little Biff! This dude's never had to work for anything in his smug little life." or if he's a little older it's "Look at that thing! Viagra on wheels for this poor sucker who thinks he can buy back his manhood!" And then if the driver's even older, retired maybe, people will still think negatively, even though this man may have been dreaming and working hard his whole life, yet they'd begrudge him this one small reward... Squandering his 401k, being selfish with his kids' inheritance, whatever... Anything. And nevermind if a woman of any age owns one. If she's anyone other than Danica Patrick she's a spoiled Barbie who probably can't even parallel park the damn thing. It sucks. People just think Vette owners are douchebags, and sadly a number of Vette owners do nothing to dispel that myth. It only takes one to reinforce the whole stereotype. It's the same reason I can't own a BMW. They're damn good cars too, but if I get a new one then I look like I just have a rich daddy and I don't know what work or sacrifice is about. And if I get an older one then I look like I'm pretending to be rich. I could go on. Any car that really stands out tends to paint a picture of the driver that's probably not true. Even old stuff. That's one reason I drive a Maverick. I get the whole muscle car experience just like the guy with the Chevelle, but nobody ever sees a guy going down the road in a Maverick and says, "Man I bet that guy's a real choad, got more money than sense..." I applaud anybody who can say "who cares what they think?" and really mean it. I wish I could.
Right on Facelessnumber. You are spot on! We should all be focusing on those ferrari owners. Car stigmas! Ya I get it all the time, how can you afford a car like that? Well I always tell them I saved up for 4 years just to make a down payment. Then they look at me differently.
