I have a 73 302 with A/C and I just removed all of the a/c and heater pieces to make the car lighter. The A/C didn't work and the heater core blew out. I don't plan on reinstalling these for a very long time. When I pulled out the a/c heater box the vacuum lines left a huge mess. Does anyone have any ideas on how to eliminate all the vacuum lines under the passenger side dash? Which ones do I need to keep? Also, there is now a rather large hole in the firewall due to the lack of a/c. Would it be safe to simply weld in a cover panel? Thanks, Jonathan
All those interior vacuum lines run all the doors on the ac/heater box. If your no woried about heat or air, you can remove all of them. Only line you need to plug is the source line comming from the engine. You can weld or bolt a plate over the hole. It will not weaken or strengthen the firewall.
One more question? How do I remove the vacuum lines from the switch. I can't seem to reach up there. Is there a special way to remove the a/c heater controls? Thanks, Jonathan
