Well I knew since we moved to Wyoming that I would need to get new plates. Did the everyday cars first with no problems.....then she got to the Maverick. First thing she said was "a what..?" and then "what color...?, who would paint a car orange" then out came "oh its that old, then you need to to the sheriff for a inspection". My heart sank and my wife started to laugh!! So back to the house we go and I fire up the orange turd, which vibrates my wifes kitchen and my neighbors windows....first house we have owned in a town, close but not on top of one another. I pull into the sheriff office...ok I coasted in, then the fun begins. By the time I unbuckle and get out of the car, not one but three of them have come out (almost running) ....and they are laughing. They said they could hear me pulling in (from inside the office) and the wire windows between the lobby and their offices were vibrating!!!! The inspection was harmless, they didnt even ask to see under the hood or the exhaust til they were done. Then up came the hood and "what exhaust is that" ...super 40 flowmasters before the rear wheels!! Once they were done they had two requests "one, please down tune on the motor after 9pm, two...now fire it up right"...so the right foot pumped a little, she came to life, did a quick little carb clean out to about 5000rpms....and off when two car alarms in the parking lot!! Now I am the one laughing, idling out of the parking lot while they are trying to shut off the car alarms and smiling and giving me the thumbs up!! THEN about one hour later I have another sheriff sitting in the driveway....he needed to check the VIN number on my car trailer. The whole time he was checking the trailer, he was asking questions about the Maverick, he heard about it from the others already....so up to the garage we went so he could see it....got another nice car and it looks and sounds great. So after he leaves the wife comes out laughing and pops my ego bubble they had built up....she says now they all know the car and where you and the car live, you better watch yourself on the roads!!!!

Yea I got pulled over for testing and tuning yesterday at my new garage. The friendly police officer went through the motions as i waited. He said nice ,fast car you got there son, but next time I can't overlook 75 feet of tire burning:D

He told me there was complaints of a blue something or another that was too loud roaming around this past week. He said don't worry about that the locals will warm up to "it" I said must be chevy country and he got a good laugh and said test n tune somewhere else. He did thank me for being honest. He never saw me do it just "heard" oh well I should have known better.;)

Glad to hear that you got friendly with your local Law enforcement. My old shop I fixed all the local police cars. Kinda spoiled me. I could get away with most violations besides DUI. It would cost a favor but........
Keep on enjoying that Mav though. Must not many out that way.(y)

LMAO about setting off alarms. Had the sane problem with 1 of my other cars. Used to drive down ritzzy areas and set off all the alarms on their cars and then just drive off slowly. Thks for the reminders. Ron:D (y)

That's a great story Todd! :D I Drove the Mav to work this morning. I was disappointed to only hear one car alarm go off driving up the ramp in the garage... maybe I just didn't hear the others. [IMG]
