does anyone know of a good place to get 5.0 parts that don't evolve a EFI system? i'm swapping my I-6 out for a 5.0 out of a '86 Thunderbird and am having some probs with finding a good source for newer performance parts.

ok anything from older 302 will fit. that helps! see me 5.0 was bored .040 from factory with ford racing pistons already in it. i'm looking for a crankshaft and intake mainly. i just didn't know if there was some sort of parts catalog that handled a lot more 5.0 parts w/o being all EFI for the new mustangs.

you can get just about anything you need out of the summit or jeg's catalog. just bring your checkbook. i also like the PAW catalog. that one is about $6 but it also has a lot of good info about the parts. get a 5.0 mustang & super fords magazine and look at the ads in it.:)

Early cranks are 28 oz imbalance and use 2 piece rear seals, 5.0 cranks are 50 oz imbalance and most (but not all) use one piece rear seals.

Dont forget to use an 85 gt distributor if you have a roller cam, unless you go with an aftermarket piece. You can use a stock aod flywheel with a newer c4,the older ones(like my 72 comet)wont hold it,its too big in diameter.Ive been told to use a c5 bellhousing to get around this, but the bolt pattern on the pump has to match the bellhousing. If you wanna go fast cheap, get a set of 87-93 heads, they work well with a little porting. Also,a whiand stealth is an exellent intake, good up to probably 6500(6200 I know myself).A b303 or e303 ford racing cam is a good place to start, theyre not terribly expensive for a roller.
