I bought a 76 Maverick and I'm looking to resell it. I have know idea how much it's worth. If you have an idea could you get back with me. It has a very sleek body, all the windows are good except front windshield which has a crack in it, all the chrome is accounted for, has all the lights, both bumpers straight, good gas tank, all instruments in dash are good, need new upholstery, perfect stock mirrows, some rust in floor pans none in the trunk, 6 cylinder, it was running when parked 6 to 8 months ago, I haven't cranked the motor but it did turn over a couple of time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Please post pictures. 76 is usually the bottom of the barell pricing. Since it's when emissions hit hard, it had big bumpers also 6 cylinders dont usually get big money. Without looking at it i'd say between $500-1,200. But there's still a bunch of variables to look at to determine the price. You never mentioned the condition of the paint or if either a 2 or 4 door. Those two factors are huge when determining a price.....there is one 76 that has pretty big value and that would be the stallion. It was only available in that year.
Why don't we start with what YOU paid for it. At least that will give us an idea of what you thought it was worth.
Looks like a good solid car i'd venture to say with not running its well worth $500. if i was you i'd get it fired up, if it would run and drive i'd value it at $1500 (just my opinion of corse)
We are not talking about you buying it. We are talking resell value for a running driving car, 1500 is a decent price if it was running.
What does running mean anyway ... just the engine needs to "run"? Lots of unknowns here still ... what's the condition of the brakes(bad/acceptable/fresh rebuild), tires, etc.. If all that is good versus, all needs to be addressed then there could be a $1000 difference between "running" and not running. The buyer has a lot to do with what "it's worth". One buyer could care less about the condition of those stock 14" tires cause they don't fit the "plan", while someone looking for a ready to drive car will pay a little more for good tires. With mention of rusty floor pans, I'd like to here what a cowl leak test reveals and so will an educated buyer. A super solid body is worth more than a running six banger. The farther north you go, the more this holds true. Body work and/or shipping cost money!
Whenever I sell a vehicle, i already know the absolute minimum number im willing to accept for that vehicle being sold. Ive done the research, i know the history, the market, what i paid, and the "sentimental value" if any...If no one offers my "minimum" then the car doesnt sell. It becomes, in effect... priceless. YOU already know what the least amount you'd have to have is... Thats the price. Otherwise you'll just keep the car and watch it rot. I know plenty of guys that will put an astronomical figure on cars worth 1,000 at best. Even though that cars only worth a 1k to most people... its worth 10k to them.
It's true. Out here you can find nice running V8 cars for 1,000 all day. And these are rust free Cali cars. Location has a big factor in the price. My figures are based on the market out here.
Like i said RUN and DRIVE ! would increase the price to $1500 because it is a very solid looking car and I also said JUST MY OPINION !
