I just got my 347 in the 72 grabber last night and due to the height of the Vic Jr. And the Holley 750, low and behold....the damn hood won't close. Does anyone make drop motor mounts for a maverick? I don't want to lose the grabber hood. Btw.....the hood closes with the air cleaner off. Lastly, there is a 1" spacer under the carb. I'm trying to keep that too for performance. :) I guess I want it all! Haaaaa!!! Thanks guys!

Like he said, lowest drop base air cleaner you can find. How tall is your filter?

Lower and further back? Hmmm...that should help with header fitment at the shock towers. Not sure how it would affect headers at the other near-touch points.

I would like to go back and down a bit.

What about pinion angle and drive-shaft length?

how far "down and back" are we talking here?

Get rid of the spacer. it doesn't help that much. If at all. And may be all you need to clear the hood.

when you are trying to close the hood over a tall engine, 1" is a LONG WAY!

I have the same combination, without a spacer, using a huge stock air cleaner with a rubber seal on it. Runs 11.50 without a spacer. Don't know if it would be faster with one, but I can live with that.
