Guys. Can anyone who has a grill in their car with the correct
and original fasteners for the far outside top tabs post or send
a pic to me of those fasteners.

Mine had bolts in it when I got it, and I don't believe that is
correct. It seems like a place that the factory would have used
some type of plastic push in retainer. I am assuming that the
Maverick is the same as the Comet as far as grill mounting.

    Thanks-

    Seth

Seth ... My car was 100% original ... It had screws everywhere ... not special pop-in plastic rivets or anything like that .... Here is the factory picture showing the same screws that hold the grill to the center support are used on the fenders as well. Unfortunately I am not familiar with later years so that might have changed .... This diagram is from 1972 ....

I just get those plastic push pins with the smooth plastic top. They come in all sizes and can be found at the help section. You dont want to mount it firmly due to the vibrations and the expanding and contracting of the plastic. It needs to float a little.

All original Mavericks I have dis-assembled have had the black plastic push pins on the ends of the grill. They have a center "pin" that you push out to release. If you needs some Seth....email me. cselvey@netdirect.net

Interesting .... According the the shop manual Standard grills were held on with 4 snap rivets ... Grabber and Comet grills with the parking lights had 2 screws in the center and 2 snap rivets ... one on each end ... I have never had a non-Grabber car so wasn't aware of the rivets. It also appears that on all the cars I owned the rivets had previously been replaced with screws ... Keep on learning ... :D

    Craig-
I will check Lowe's to see if they have what you are talking about.
They may have it. If not, I'll send you an e-mail.

    Thanks to all.
I got half my stripes on tonight. I'm getting there.
