Just curious if it was possible (well, reasonably feasible anyway lol) to hook up a compressor and such to add AC to a car that doesn't have it already. I have a '77 2-door 3-speed, with the shifter on the column, so I have plenty of room down the middle of the dash for controls and such, but I don't know what all would be involved in adding the compressor and connecting it to the duct system. I'm fairly confident in my ability to follow directions but my experience under the hood is limited to standard maintenance... any ideas would be appreciated...
Vintage Air can supposedy provide you with whatever you need. http://www.vintageair.com/Universalapps1.asp
I've seen a Comet with a real sweet in-dash A/C system assembled using Vintage Air components. Unfortunately I can't tell you which ones. Surely their tech guys would be able to help you on that. The guy that had it said that it worked like a charm, except that every time he put on the defrost the windshield fogged over totally, before clearing up and then being fine. I've heard of this complaint with aftermarket A/C on other cars too, although I have no idea what the cause is. I hope that this is helpful to you. Good luck. John B.
