    Hi everyone,

I've got a 71 Comet. Has a 302 and C4. I painted it myself. It used to have the soft top on it, and the chrome molding on the side. Got new Mag500s rims for it. Hooker LT's, Edlebrock intake manifold, mild cam, Holley carb.

Now that I finally got it running decent, I want to turn it into a fun drag car. It needs gears badly. Does it come stock with a 8" rear end?

I took it to the track today, and I'm crossing the 1/4 mile at 4700 in 2nd. What gear should I go to? 4.11s? 3.80s?

Where I live the DA is 7000-8000ft. It was running high 15s at 90mph. 2.3 60ft, launching from idle. It was loading the carb up if I power braked it. Also, what stall should I get?

I'm loving your comet! Welcome to the forum. Might want to add your tire height. And yeah it should have a 8", but they only came with high gears. Either 2.79 or 3.00 .

    Welcome aboard!
    Great looking car!
If you plan on driving much on the highway I'd stay away from the 4:11's. I'd look for something around 3:50-3:89. Good luck with it and have fun!

Very sharp. The wheels really suit the look of that car. Not a big fan of Magnums but that car and color make them work very nicely. MAybe its the touch of red in the centers??

Thanks for the kind words everyone :)

The color is from early 2000s. Its called Red Fire Metallic. Its a Ford color. I orginally was going to paint it Lazer Red, but I found out it was a 3 stage paint, and materials were going to cost me $700. So Redfire Metallic was close in color, so I went with that.

I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

And I won't be doing any highway driving. Its going to see only city driving, and the quarter mile.

Welcome to the forum from Northeastern Illinois.:Welcome:
I like the paint job on ur Comet. When I get to the point where mine will be painted I will consider that Red Fire Metallic.
    I like it.
