Hey does anyone happen to have some basic dimensions for the carpet on a 2 door mav. Im on vacation and i was hoping to go to a wrecking yard and pick up some nice used carpet to last me until i can get new carpet. Im basically just looking for a rough length and width of the carpet so i can try to fing something about the same at a yard. Thanks!

wouldnt it be an issue sine the carpets are pre molded/shaped for the type of car?

Back in Feb 2010, I was in email contact with a sales person at Auto Carpet Direct concerning the accurate molded fit to the 70 floorboards which is unique to the Maverick line. After having the carpet line researched and double checked he assured me that they had a carpet that was in fact molded to the one year only floorboard. I didn't order one at that time because I wasn't ready for carpeting and didn't want to take a chance damaging it laying around in the garage. Maybe email the sales link and tell them that you have this one year only 70 floorboard with the small tunnel and see if they are still positive that they can help us 70 owners. I may not be ready to order until sometime this summer.

Thanks for the info. I wasnt aware that the 70 floor was anything special.

The 69.5/70 had the small transmission tunnel (maybe some other differences too - don't know) - 71 through 77 molded carpets have too much material in the center of the carpet, to fit down on the later larger tunnel, causing it not to fit well over the early smaller tunnel - I haven't seen any feedback on the early carpet from Auto Carpet Direct so I can't say for sure if their claim is legit or not - I was going to try it when I need my carpet and see what happens.

Well my trans tunnel is from a later car and my floorboards have been cut and re-molded for some wacky-a$$ subframe connectors someone welded in before i bought the car, so my floorboard is gonna be totally different. But all im looking for is some carpet to throw in it so its not bare metal because i have a show in about a month and i want the interior to be complete. So im just wondering if anyone has some basic measurements of the floorboard in out cars so I can find a piece of carpet from something else at the wrecking yard and throw it in there. It may not look the best but it will probabley look better than the bare floorboard. Also, i would just go out to the garage and measure the floorboard in my mav but im on vacation right now and the mav is at home. Thanks!

Thanks Adam but I found a mav at the yard I went to. I actually went to ecology on 27th ave and measured that 4 door mav that's there and then I got some nice black carpet from a black crown Vic and I might have to trim it down a bit but it should work for the meet

And for future reference, when you order for a 73 or 74 model (transition year between cat and non cat floors) bump the year down to a 72 when ordering, so you do NOT get the cat hump, or up to a 75 if you DO have a cat hump in your car.

I have a 74, and ordered for a 74, and have a bunch of extra material because they assumed I had the cat hump, where mine does not.

So next time I order for my 74 non-cat car, I will tell them I have a 72.

The 69.5-70 supposedly has a different floor altogether.
